EASY HAMBURGER BUNS
This is the classic grandma’s recipe: super soft buns with lots of seeds on top, soft and fragrant. Today I was in the mood to make plenty of leavened goods like BUNS or like PANBRIOCHE and I thought: it’s time to make the soft buns that my grandma used to make when I was little, she was a master of leavened goods 🙂
Unfortunately, she went to heaven too soon, but sometimes I imagine her kneading, living with memories of my aunts or my father who always tell me: you resemble her a lot in terms of cooking. I wonder if I will ever be as good as her; surely, I love cooking a lot, and this love was passed on to me by her 🙂
So let’s see how I made them.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups Manitoba flour
- 1 cup milk
- 7 tbsp butter
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp instant dry yeast (12 g of fresh yeast)
- 2 tsp salt
- to taste flax seeds
Steps
If you need to rehydrate the yeast, subtract 50 ml from the total milk, pour into a glass with the yeast and a teaspoon of sugar.
Take the butter out of the fridge at least an hour before starting the recipe.
In a mixer, pour the flour, the egg, the milk and start mixing, also add the yeast and lastly the butter in pieces. DO NOT add the salt
Let the machine work all the dough until a good consistency is achieved.
(a smooth ball that detaches from the sides of the bowl should form.
Let the dough rest for about fifteen minutes and then place it on a work surface: spread the edges a little and pour the salt inside, close by bringing the right edge to the center, do the same for the left side then the top to the center and finally the bottom (like folding a sheet).
Turn the dough and rotate it between your hands until a smooth ball forms.
Let it rise until doubled.
Deflate the dough, work into a ball and divide into pieces of about 100 grams. Work each piece into a small ball with your hands and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Let rise for another couple of hours.
Brush each ball with milk and sprinkle with seeds.
Preheat the oven to 356°F and let it reach temperature: bake for about fifteen minutes.
