BOILED GREEN BEANS

Boiled green beans are a tasty and easy side dish to make. You can simply season them with oil, pepper, and salt, as I did, or once boiled, you can make them with tomato sauce or au gratin. Once you’ve prepared the boiled green beans, you can also create many GREEN BEAN SALADS perfect for hot summer days. Make sure not to overcook the green beans; otherwise, they will become too soft, so respect the cooking time for boiled green beans. Here in Veneto, we call this dish boiled tegoline, and during the summer, it’s a widely prepared side dish, especially if you use green beans from your garden. How to prepare boiled green beans

  • Let’s start preparing the boiled green beans by trimming the green beans, removing the ends, and washing them well under running water.

  • Then pour them into a large pot and add water, place on the stove and bring to a boil, from the moment the water starts boiling, cook for 20 minutes.

  • The cooking time may vary depending on the size of the green beans and how cooked you like them; for example, I like them crunchier.

  • Once cooked, drain them by pouring them into a colander so they lose all the cooking water.

  • Then pour them into a bowl and season them with salt, pepper, and oil. You can serve them hot or at room temperature.
