Oven-baked gratinated champignon mushrooms or in an air fryer are a simple side dish that pairs perfectly with any main course. Champignon mushrooms are also known as button mushrooms. They are usually prepared sautéed, but I encourage you to try them this way, and if you don’t want to turn on the oven, you can try them in the air fryer; they will be delicious and ready in 10 minutes. Champignon mushrooms are available year-round and are very economical compared to, for example, porcini mushrooms. Ingredients for preparing oven-baked gratinated champignon mushrooms

  • 1.3 lbs champignon mushrooms
  • as needed extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 tbsps breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp grated cheese
  • as needed parsley
  • as needed salt

How to prepare oven-baked gratinated champignon mushrooms

  • Let’s start preparing the gratinated champignon mushrooms. Clean the mushrooms, remove the stem end, and rinse them quickly under water without soaking them, or clean them with a cloth. Once clean, slice them.

  • Place the breadcrumbs in a dish, add the grated cheese, chopped parsley, and mix well. Now oil the mushroom slices using a brush, or you can pour the oil into a bowl and dip the mushrooms, whichever you prefer. Then coat each slice in the breadcrumbs and arrange them in the baking dish.

  • If you have leftover breadcrumbs, sprinkle it over the mushrooms in the dish, add salt, and bake in a preheated fan oven at 356°F for 10 minutes, turn the mushrooms, and bake for another 5 minutes, ensuring perfect browning on both sides.

  • You can cook the gratinated champignon mushrooms in the air fryer at 356°F for 10 minutes.

  • Once the Champignon mushrooms are ready, season with salt and serve them hot.
