How to prepare Baked Pasta with Sausage and Brussels Sprouts
Let’s start preparing the Baked Pasta with Sausage and Brussels Sprouts. Clean the Brussels sprouts, remove the ugly outer leaves, trim the bottom, and wash them under running water. Then place them in water and once it starts to boil, cook them for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare the béchamel sauce. In a saucepan, melt the butter, then add the flour and toast it for a minute. Add a pinch of salt and nutmeg, then gradually add the hot milk to avoid lumps. Cook on the stove until it thickens, stirring constantly.
Remove the casing from the sausage and crumble it coarsely. Finely chop the onion, and dice the mozzarella and melting cheese.
When the Brussels sprouts are ready, remove them from the water and set aside. Add a pinch of salt to the water and cook the pasta until very al dente, approximately half the time indicated on the package.
Cut the Brussels sprouts in half, add some extra virgin olive oil to a skillet, and sauté the chopped onion. Add the sausage and cook for a few minutes, then add the white wine and let it evaporate completely.
Once the wine has evaporated, add the Brussels sprouts, let them flavor for a few minutes, then add the pasta and mix well.
Spread some béchamel sauce on the bottom of a baking dish and spread it well. Add the pasta with Brussels sprouts and sausage, the remaining béchamel, the mozzarella, and mix well. Finish with the diced melting cheese and a generous sprinkle of pepper.
Preheat the static oven to 356°F (180°C) and when it’s hot, bake and cook for 15 minutes. Serve the Baked Pasta with Sausage and Brussels Sprouts piping hot.
