Ingredients for Preparing the Apple Crumble

  • 2 1/2 cups Flour
  • 6 1/3 tbsps Butter (or margarine)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 4 tbsps Milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 Apples
  • 4 tbsps Apricot jam
  • 2 tbsps Sugar
  • Half lemon

How to prepare the Apple Crumble

  • Let’s start preparing the Apple Crumble. Pour the flour and baking powder into a bowl.

  • Add the sugar.

  • And the cold fridge butter, cut into pieces.

  • Work with your hands until you get a sandy mixture.

  • Add the egg.

  • The milk.

  • And the vanilla.

  • Knead until you get a compact and shiny shortcrust pastry.

  • Work it on a surface for a few minutes.

  • Then wrap it in cling film and place it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  • While the pastry rests in the fridge, prepare the apples, peel them, cut them into 4 wedges, remove the core.

  • And cut them into small pieces.

  • Squeeze the juice of half a lemon.

  • Pour the apples into a pan, add the sugar.

  • The lemon juice.

  • And the grated lemon peel, put on the stove and cook for 10/15 minutes until the apples are well softened.

  • Take the pastry and divide it into two parts.

  • Roll one part well with the rolling pin.

  • And place it on the baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  • Add the jam, level it.

  • And add the cooked apples, spreading them over the jam.

  • Crumble the remaining shortcrust pastry over the mixture to make a sort of lid.

  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for 40 minutes.

  • When the crumble is ready, take it out and let it cool completely in the pan. Only when it is cold, remove it and cut it into slices.
