Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
- 2 apples
- 2 teaspoons honey
- ground cinnamon
- walnut halves
- milk
- brown sugar
Preparation of the Apple Puff Pastry Braid
Peel the apples, cut them into quarters, remove the core and seeds, and slice them thinly. Unroll the puff pastry and then fold it into three equal parts along the longer side, pressing well to “mark” the edges of the three parts without cutting them. Unroll it again and without cutting the central part, make diagonal cuts along the two outer parts, creating strips about an inch wide.
Place the apple slices on the intact central part. Drizzle some honey over the apples and sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon and some crushed walnut halves. Fold the strips of puff pastry from the sides over the filling, alternating the sides, to cover the center and create a braid. Brush the surface of the pastry with some milk and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake in a preheated fan oven at 350°F for about twenty minutes, until the desired level of browning is reached. Remove from the oven, let it cool, and serve your apple puff pastry braid.
