American tuna sandwiches are tasty, easy-to-make sandwiches.
Known as Tuna Melt, they are hot sandwiches that “melt in your mouth”, filled with tuna, mayonnaise, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and a few other ingredients. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, maybe to enjoy in front of the TV, rich in flavor and very tasty, cooked for a few minutes on the stove.
Read on to learn how to make American tuna sandwiches with the easy recipe below, as usual, right after the photo 😉

Ingredients
- 8 slices sandwich bread
- 7 oz canned tuna in oil
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 tomato (large for salad)
- 2 pickles
- 1 stalk celery
- 1 clove red onion
- lemon juice (from half a lemon)
- 3.5 oz mayonnaise
- parsley
- butter
- salt
Preparation of the American tuna sandwiches
In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the juice of half a lemon.
Wash the celery and chop it.
Also chop the pickles.
Add them to the mayonnaise along with the well-drained tuna from the preservation oil and mix.Chop the red onion and some parsley and add them to the bowl, mix again and adjust the salt if necessary.
Wash the tomato and cut it into thin slices.
Place the slices of bread on the work surface and spread butter on one side only.
Turn the buttered side onto the work surface and distribute the prepared tuna mixture on four slices of bread on the side without butter.Cover with two slices of tomato and two slices of cheddar cheese and close with an unfilled slice of bread leaving the buttered side outside.
Heat a non-stick pan on the stove, then cook each of the prepared sandwiches for a few minutes on each side until the cheese has melted (the butter on the outside will form a crispy crust).
Serve your American tuna sandwiches immediately, well hot.
