Almond Butter

Almond butter is a healthy food rich in nutritional properties and health benefits, and it is very easy and quick to prepare at home.

It can be used in both sweet and savory recipes, instead of butter or oil, giving dishes a distinctive flavor. It’s rich in vitamins, fiber, proteins, and minerals, and contains monounsaturated fats that help fight “bad” cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. It’s made with two simple ingredients and a very simple procedure.

Ingredients

  • 9 oz blanched almonds
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

How to Make Almond Butter

  • Place the blanched almonds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper without overlapping them.
Toast them in a preheated static oven at 350°F for five minutes.
Remove them from the oven, let them cool slightly, and place them in a food processor.

  • Turn on the appliance, blending until they turn into a homogeneous flour (you may need to pulse to prevent the appliance from overheating too much).
Add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and continue to blend: at a certain point, you will see a cream form (you can add a teaspoon of water if it seems too thick), your almond butter.

  • If you intend to use it for savory preparations, you can add a pinch of salt and blend briefly to mix it.
Transfer the obtained cream into a sterilized glass jar and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
