Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/8 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • Half packet baking powder (8 g)
  • 1 packet vanillin
  • 3.5 oz dark chocolate

Preparation of the Soft Shortcrust Pastry Cake with Chocolate

  • In a large bowl, with electric beaters, whip the softened butter cut into pieces with the sugar until you obtain a smooth cream.
Add the milk, without stopping mixing, and the egg yolks.
Stir in the sifted flour, baking powder, and vanillin, mixing well until incorporated.

  • Line an 18 cm (7-inch) springform pan with parchment paper.
Place half of the batter inside and, with wetted hands, press and level it until you obtain an even layer.
Spread the dark chocolate pieces over it.
Cover with the remaining batter, molding it with your wetted hands to perfectly cover the chocolate and create a uniform layer.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (355°F) in fan mode for about thirty minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before transferring your soft shortcrust pastry cake onto a tray or serving plate and decorating as desired with powdered sugar.
