Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (fresh, rectangular)
- 1.1 lbs broccoli
- 3.5 oz smoked cheese
- 0.7 oz Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 egg yolk
- sesame seeds
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
Preparation of the Rustic Broccoli and Smoked Cheese Pie
Clean the broccoli by removing the stem, leaves, and tough parts, and wash it well, dividing it into florets.
Cook the florets in boiling water for five minutes, then drain them.
Peel the garlic and let it brown in a pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.Add the florets and let them flavor, stirring for another five minutes, then adjust the salt, turn off, and set them aside.
Grate the smoked cheese with a large-hole grater, collecting it in a bowl.
Add the broccoli florets and the grated cheese and mix thoroughly.Unroll the puff pastry on a work surface, leaving it on the baking paper it comes with. Fold it into three parts and unfold the rectangle, then distribute the prepared broccoli mixture in the center, and cut the outer parts with a smooth blade knife with diagonal cuts, to form strips that you will fold, alternating, over the broccoli filling, pressing well at the edges.
Beat the egg yolk in a small bowl with a little water and brush it over the surface of the rustic pie.Sprinkle with sesame seeds and place it on a baking sheet with the help of the baking paper underneath (leaving the paper in contact with the sheet).
Bake your rustic broccoli and smoked cheese pie in a preheated oven at 392°F for about twenty minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and serve hot or cold according to your taste.
