Orecchiette with Broccoli and Bacon

Orecchiette with broccoli and bacon is a tasty first course, easy to make, creamy, and irresistible.

Broccoli are vegetables rich in antioxidants and molecules with anti-cancer effects, vitamin C and A. They are perfect for preparing tasty pasta dishes, such as orecchiette with broccoli and sausage, or bucatini with broccoli and pecorino, as well as delicious side dishes or flavorful main courses, like broccoli gateau.

Ingredients

  • 18 oz fresh orecchiette
  • 12 oz broccoli
  • 3 oz mild bacon (cubed)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • pecorino (grated)
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Orecchiette with Broccoli and Bacon

  • Clean the broccoli, removing the tough stems and keeping the florets, and wash them under cold running water.
    Bring a large pot of water to the stove.
    Peel the garlic clove and let it brown in a large pan with a base of extra virgin olive oil. Also add the cubed mild bacon and let them brown on all sides.

  • When the water comes to a boil, add the broccoli and let them cook for five minutes.
    Salt them and add the orecchiette.
    Cook the pasta as well, then drain everything, keeping some of the cooking water aside.

  • Pour everything into the pan, add plenty of grated pecorino, and toss for a few minutes, adding some of the reserved cooking water if needed.
    Serve your orecchiette with broccoli and bacon immediately, hot.
