Penne alla Garibaldina

The Penne alla Garibaldina is a tasty first course of the Italian tradition, easy to prepare.

Created in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the hero of the Two Worlds, it is a dish rich in flavor, with shrimp, tomato sauce, and chili pepper.

Ingredients

  • 11 oz penne
  • 7 oz tomato sauce
  • 7 oz shrimp
  • 1/2 cup cooking cream
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 chili pepper
  • parsley
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Penne alla Garibaldina

  • Bring a large pot filled with water to the boil for cooking the pasta.
    In the meantime, clean the shrimp by removing the shell and the intestine, rinse them under running water and set them aside.
    Peel the garlic and chop it with the shallot.

  • In a large pan, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and add the chopped garlic and shallot and the chili pepper.
    Let them sauté for a couple of minutes and add the shrimp.
    Cook for a few more minutes, then add the tomato sauce, mix thoroughly, and let it cook for ten minutes over low heat.

  • Add the cream, mix, and cook for another two minutes, then turn off the heat.
    Cook the pasta until al dente in salted water, drain it, and add it to the sauce in the pan.
    Mix, adjust the salt if necessary, and sprinkle with some chopped parsley if desired.
    Serve immediately, very hot, your Penne alla Garibaldina.
