Braised Fennel

Braised fennel is a tasty vegetable side dish, easy and quick to prepare.

15 minutes of cooking in a pan for a very simple side dish based on fennel, perfect to accompany any type of dish, meat or fish, cheeses or cold cuts, or to enjoy with good homemade bread. Fennel promotes good digestion, helps strengthen the immune system, and helps reduce abdominal bloating, they are antioxidant and antibacterial.

Ingredients

  • 3.3 lbs fennel
  • 20 pitted black olives
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsps fennel seeds
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Braised Fennel

  • Clean the fennel, cut it into thin wedges, and rinse under running water.
    Place them in a large non-stick pan and add the peeled garlic clove, pitted black olives, a few tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, salt, and mix thoroughly.

  • Add a glass of water and let them cook for ten minutes over medium heat, covering the pan with a lid.

  • After this time, add the fennel seeds, remove the lid, increase the heat, and let cook for another five minutes, stirring often.
    Turn off the heat, let it cool slightly, and serve your braised fennel.
