Ingredients

  • 4 pears
  • 1.25 cups red wine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.85 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 star anise

Preparation of Pears in Red Wine

  • Pour the red wine, water, and sugar into a saucepan.
    Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise, and bring everything to the heat over medium flame.

  • Peel the pears without removing the stems, add them to the saucepan, and cook them for twenty minutes, then remove them and set them aside.

  • Let the cooking liquid reduce by raising the flame and letting it cook for another ten minutes, then turn off the heat and put the pears back in the saucepan, gently turning them so they are covered with the created syrup.
    Serve your pears in red wine hot or warm.
