Ingredients

  • 1.2 lbs panettone
  • 2.6 oz orange marmalade
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2.1 cups milk
  • orange zest (from one organic orange)
  • dark chocolate chips
  • powdered sugar (for decoration)

Preparation of the Panettone Cake with Cream and Orange

  • Heat the milk with the orange zest.
In a saucepan, away from the heat, place the egg yolks and sugar and whisk them until you obtain a light and homogeneous mixture.
    Incorporate the flour.

  • Gradually add the filtered warm milk while stirring to prevent lumps from forming.
Place the saucepan on medium heat, stirring constantly until your cream thickens.
Turn off the heat, transfer it to a shallow and wide container, cover it with a sheet of plastic wrap in contact with the surface of the cream, and let it cool completely.

  • Butter a 9.5-inch diameter cake pan.
Cut the panettone into thin slices about 1/4 inch thick and place them in the cake pan, pressing well to adhere and cover the bottom and sides without leaving any gaps.
Pour half of the cream into the prepared shell, leveling it.
Cut the remaining panettone into pieces and distribute them on the cream in the cake pan.

  • Cover with the remaining cream.
Distribute the orange marmalade in scattered spoonfuls over the cream and then sprinkle the entire surface of the cake with chocolate chips.
Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F in fan mode for half an hour.
Remove from the oven, let it cool, and serve your panettone cake with cream and orange, sprinkling it with powdered sugar to taste.
