The apple mulled drink is a delicious non-alcoholic hot beverage of Trentino origin (where it is called Apfelgluhwein) that is prepared for Christmas celebrations and is often found at markets.
It has an exceptional and irresistible taste and is suitable for the whole family, in a non-alcoholic version for the little ones, but with the possibility of making it alcoholic for adults.
Read how to make the apple mulled drink with the easy recipe you find below, as usual, right after the photo 😉

Ingredients
- 4 cups apple juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 orange (untreated)
- 1 star anise
- 10 cloves
- 2 tablespoons honey (preferably acacia)
Preparation of the Apple Mulled Drink
Wash the orange, dry it, and peel the skin with a vegetable peeler, trying to avoid the white part as much as possible, which would make the preparation bitter.
In a pot, away from the heat, pour the apple juice and the orange peel.
Add the spices.
Squeeze the juice of half of the peeled orange, strain it, and add it to the pot.
Also add the honey and stir.
Place the pot on the stove and wait for the liquid to reach a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for ten minutes.
Turn off the heat and strain your apple mulled drink.
Serve it immediately while hot, or if you store it, make sure to reheat it before serving.
Poured into a sterilized bottle with an airtight seal, it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three months.
If you want to make it alcoholic, simply add a bit of rum or some grappa to the hot beverage before serving.
