Tuna and Lemon Meatballs

The tuna and lemon meatballs are a tasty appetizer or main dish, very easy and quick to prepare.

Simple ingredients, almost always available in the pantry for a tasty dish perfect to enjoy hot or even cold on the hottest days.

Ingredients

  • 5.6 oz canned tuna in oil
  • lemon zest (grated from one lemon)
  • 5.3 oz stale bread
  • 2 canned anchovies
  • 1 egg
  • basil (chopped)
  • breadcrumbs
  • oil (for frying)

How to Make Tuna and Lemon Meatballs

  • Break the bread into pieces and place it in a bowl.
    Cover it with hot water.
    Drain the tuna from its oil and chop it, placing it in another bowl.

    Squeeze the bread well and add it to the tuna.
    Chop the anchovies.
    Add them to the tuna bowl with the grated lemon zest, some chopped basil, and the egg.
    Mix thoroughly.

    Place some breadcrumbs on a plate.
    Form walnut-sized meatballs with the prepared mixture and roll them in the breadcrumbs to coat them perfectly on all sides.

    Fry them in plenty of hot oil for a few minutes until golden, remove them with a slotted spoon, and let them dry from the excess oil by placing them on a plate lined with frying paper or kitchen paper towels.
    Serve your tuna and lemon meatballs.
