  • to taste whole milk (for brushing the pastry)
  • to taste powdered sugar

Tools

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry wheel
  • Cookie cutters

Steps to Make the Nutella Puff Pastry Christmas Tree

  • To make the Nutella puff pastry Christmas tree, first roll out one sheet of rectangular puff pastry on a work surface. If you want, you can ease the process by placing it on the baking sheet with its parchment paper. Alternatively, you can lay the parchment paper on a cutting board. Now spread the Nutella on the pastry, trying not to cover it completely. Roll out the other sheet of puff pastry and gently place it over the Nutella, sealing the edges well so that it doesn’t open during baking.

  • Now take a pastry wheel or a knife and cut the shape of the tree starting from the bottom. Make two cuts to form the trunk, then shape the tree by making the triangle on top and then create the strips that will be the branches. Twist them on themselves. With the leftover puff pastry from the tree shape, you can create small decorations to place on the tree. In this case, I had star-shaped cookie cutters, but you can choose whichever you prefer. Preheat the static oven to 392°F and in the meantime, brush the surface of the tree with whole milk. Then place the stars on top.

  • Bake the puff pastry at 392°F for about 20 minutes. It should be nicely golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. If you want, add colorful chocolates for decoration and powdered sugar. Your puff pastry tree is ready to be served during the holidays, delicious and very scenic!
