Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (+ for the work surface)
- 1 egg
- 1.5 tsp dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar (+ for decoration)
- 1 vanilla
- 2 tbsps seed oil
- 1/2 cup milk (+ for decoration)
- 1 packet vanillin
How to make air fryer donuts
Pour the flour, yeast, sugar, grated orange peel (optional), and vanillin into a bowl (you can also knead with a stand mixer)
Next, add the egg, pour in the lukewarm milk and oil, and knead everything well for 5 minutes to form a ball.
Then let it rise in a bowl covered with plastic wrap for at least 2 hours in the turned-off oven with the light on. (It should double in volume).
After the resting time, roll out a disk about 1 1/4 inches thick, use a cookie cutter to cut out circles, and make a hole in the center with the nozzle of a piping bag or a bottle cap.
Then place the donuts on a baking sheet with their piece of parchment paper and let them rise for 30 minutes in the turned-off oven with the light on.
Transfer the donuts to the air fryer and cook at 340°F for about 12 minutes.
One minute before the end of cooking, check the donuts’ browning, ensuring they are not overcooked.
Remove them and brush with some lukewarm milk, roll them in granulated sugar or powdered sugar.
Storage and tips for air fryer donuts
The donuts are best consumed as soon as possible, at most within two days. Alternatively, you can freeze them once completely cooled. If you want to fill them, just use a piping bag, you can split them in half and fill them, close them, and sprinkle with plenty of powdered sugar.
