Prosciutto and Melon

Prosciutto and melon is a winning combination, perfect for summer. It’s a fresh recipe that never goes out of style. In fact, the sweet flavor of the melon pairs perfectly with the saltier taste of the prosciutto. Perfect to serve as an appetizer, or cut into cubes to serve as an aperitif with a glass of white wine. Delicious also as a second course. The recipe for prosciutto and melon is very ancient, perhaps one of the oldest in the world. It seems to date back to the Etruscans and Romans. • 7 oz prosciutto

Steps to prepare prosciutto and melon

  • To prepare prosciutto and melon, first choose the melon. I bought the classic cantaloupe. If possible, put it in the refrigerator before using it, so it will be nice and fresh, making it even more pleasant to taste. For the prosciutto, opt for San Daniele prosciutto, which is, in my opinion, tasty and flavorful. If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can choose Parma prosciutto, which is also delicious! This dish will turn out great with either one because it’s the mix of flavors that makes this dish a winner! Now take the melon and cut it in half. Remove the seeds and cut it into slices of roughly the same size. Now remove the green rind. Now take a slice of prosciutto and wrap it around the melon slice. Repeat this step for all the slices. Keep it at room temperature if you plan to serve it immediately, otherwise, I recommend putting it in the refrigerator and taking it out just 10 minutes before serving.

  • Your dish is ready to be served as an appetizer or second course. Delicious and very fresh, perfect for summer!
