Jam Tart without Butter

The jam tart without butter is a homemade dessert perfect for a tasty breakfast or a delicious snack! The tart is a classic of tradition, it can be made with oil, with butter, with baking powder or without. It depends a bit on your tastes and needs. I use baking powder to make it lighter and crumblier, but you can also omit it if you don’t like it. For the jam, you can opt for the one you like best, you can prepare it at home or buy it at the supermarket, it will always turn out delicious! In this recipe, I used a jam that was gifted to me by a friend, with raspberries and elderberry. If you like desserts, you can also try:

Steps to make the jam tart without butter

  • To prepare the jam tart without butter, first prepare the pastry, either by hand or with the help of a stand mixer. I used the stand mixer with the paddle attachment. In the bowl, pour 2 eggs, the sugar, then add the all-purpose flour, the baking powder, start mixing slowly, and finally add a pinch of salt and the corn oil. When the mixture is well combined, transfer it to a floured surface. Knead the dough until you get a smooth and homogeneous ball.

  • Now the shortcrust pastry is ready, if you want, you can let it rest in the fridge, but I used it immediately, as it is very soft. Now cut 2/3 of the pastry, the rest will be used to make the strips on top. To roll out the pastry better, I recommend placing a sheet of parchment paper underneath. Now grease a cake pan well with oil and flour, place the pastry, remove the parchment paper, and if any pastry comes out of the pan, cut it with a knife. Now cover the surface of the tart with your chosen jam. Now create the strips with the remaining pastry and lay them on top of the jam. You can cut the strips either with a knife or with a pastry cutter wheel.

  • Meanwhile, preheat the static oven to 356 degrees Fahrenheit. When the oven is hot, bake the tart and cook it for about 30 minutes. Once ready, take it out and let it cool before removing it from the mold. Your jam tart without butter is now ready to be enjoyed, really delicious!
