The Christmas sandwich candles are perfect appetizers for the holiday season. They are scenic, very tasty, and appetizing. Simple to make and beautiful to look at! The filling can vary based on personal taste. In this case, I made them with a single flavor, but you can vary by adding various cold cuts or smoked salmon. I made them with mayonnaise, canned tuna, black olives, and capers. Then I used slices of salami and green olives to create the outline and cherry tomatoes. Truly beautiful and above all delicious! Steps to make the Christmas sandwich candles
To prepare the Christmas sandwich candles, first prepare the tuna cream. In a blender, place 2 cans of tuna in oil, 8 black olives, 8 capers, and 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. Blend everything well; the cream should be smooth.
Now prepare the sandwich rolls. Take the long, crustless sandwich bread slices and place them on a cutting board. Roll them out with a rolling pin to thin them out. Spread the tuna cream on top. Close the rolls tightly in plastic wrap, sealing the edges like candy, and refrigerate for a couple of hours. If you want, you can leave the rolls in the fridge overnight.
After the hours have passed, take the rolls out of the fridge, adjust the height of the various candles to make them even more scenic by removing just one or two slices. Now place the rolls on a serving plate, add a layer of mayonnaise on the candle surfaces, and place a small piece of red pepper shaped like a flame. Alternatively, you can use a piece of tomato instead of the pepper. To create the wax effect, you can use mayonnaise and put it in a piping bag, then make vertical stripes on the surface. If you don’t want mayonnaise, you can create the wax with béchamel sauce. Then add some salami shaped into a rose, and if you want, place a green olive with pepper inside. I also added chopped radicchio, olives, and pieces of cherry tomatoes.
Storage and Tips
You can store the rolls in the refrigerator for 1 day.
If you want, you can also prepare them the day before.
I made them with tuna cream, but if you like, you can opt for other fillings, spreads, or mixed cold cuts.
For the wax, you can use mayonnaise or béchamel sauce.
