Halloween Brooms are really simple, quick, and very cute appetizers! They are made with 2 ingredients: the stick snacks typical of appetizers usually found with pretzels, and sliced cheese. In this case, I used Edam cheese. If you want to make an appetizer, have your kids help you prepare it, they’ll be thrilled. To close the cheese so that it doesn’t open, you can use a chive stem or a parsley stem stripped of its leaves.

Ingredients for making Halloween Brooms
- 8 sticks (salty sticks)
- 8 slices Edam cheese
- 8 stems chives (or parsley stems)
Tools
- Cutting board
- Knife
Steps to make Halloween Brooms
To prepare the Halloween Brooms, first take the Edam cheese slices and fold them in half. On the bottom long side, make small cuts to create fringes. Now take a salty stick and wrap the cheese slice around the stick.
Secure the cheese with a chive strand, or if you don’t have it, you can use parsley stems stripped of their leaves and make a small knot. Your Halloween Brooms are ready to be served to friends and family along with a great appetizer!
Storage and Tips
You can store leftover brooms in the refrigerator for one day.
If you don’t like Edam cheese, you can choose other sliced cheeses, like Emmental.
You can also use American cheese slices, though I don’t recommend them because they are very soft and tend to become too sticky, making them difficult to handle.
