The Swiss chard with onion in the pan is a very simple and quick vegetable side dish to prepare. It is a very simple recipe but it cannot be missing from my blog since I often prepare Swiss chard with onion for my family! You can pair it with meat main courses like chicken strips with peppers, with chicken scaloppine with beer or with mushrooms! All excellent pairings, also because Swiss chard goes well with almost anything. If you like vegetable side dishes, I also recommend:

Steps to make Swiss chard with onion in the pan
To prepare Swiss chard with onion in the pan, first clean the Swiss chard well, wash them thoroughly under running water, remove the toughest part of the stalk, and coarsely chop the stalk and leaves. Pour water and coarse salt into a very large pot and let it boil. Once it reaches a boil, cook the Swiss chard for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, clean and chop a yellow onion which you will use later. At the end of cooking, drain the Swiss chard, let them drain well because they will release a lot of water. Squeeze them well and place them on a cutting board, chop them a little more with a knife so they become thinner.
Now take the pan and add some extra virgin olive oil, the previously chopped yellow onion, and let it brown for a couple of minutes. Add the Swiss chard and let them brown well over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. If you like, you can also add some spicy chili pepper. Your Swiss chard with onion in the pan is ready to be served!
