The non-alcoholic apple mulled wine is a hot non-alcoholic beverage made with apple juice, orange, and various spices. Here in Trentino, we often drink it during winter, especially when visiting Christmas markets. Children can enjoy it too, while adults can savor a hot mulled wine. You can prepare and drink it instantly or make it in advance and reheat it later. Perhaps, you can also prepare a good slice of apple pie to go with it. If you have a juicer at home, you can make the apple juice yourself, otherwise, you can easily buy apple juice at the supermarket. It will be delicious in both cases.

Steps to make non-alcoholic apple mulled wine
To prepare the non-alcoholic apple mulled wine, first, place 4.2 cups of apple juice in a large enough saucepan. Remove the peel from an orange and add it to the juice. Also, add the juice of half an orange, 1 teaspoon of acacia honey or your preferred type, 1 cinnamon stick, 8 cloves, some anise seeds (or if you have star anise, add 1 or 2), and a pinch of nutmeg.
Heat the apple mulled wine and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, let it simmer gently for 10 minutes. Finally, strain the beverage with a strainer and serve it hot.
Storage and Tips
The flavor of mulled wine is very personal, so you can add more or fewer spices to taste.
Besides orange peel, you can also add lemon peel as done in mulled wine.
If you don’t like honey, add sugar. If it already seems sweet enough, don’t add anything.
You can store the apple mulled wine in the refrigerator for about ten days. Always reheat it before serving.
