Ingredients for Green Beans with Tomato and Basil
- 1.32 lbs green beans (weight after cleaning)
- 1 package peeled tomatoes
- Half onion
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- leaves basil
- salt
- pepper

Steps for Green Beans with Tomato and Basil
Trim the green beans and rinse them in plenty of water.
Boil the green beans in plenty of salted water for 10 minutes (they should be al dente).
Drain and set aside.
In a pan, sauté some finely chopped onion for 2-3 minutes over medium heat, stirring often to prevent it from burning.
Add the peeled tomatoes, basil, and let them wilt.
Add the boiled green beans, a ladle of fresh water and let them cook for about twenty minutes or until they reach the desired tenderness.Taste and adjust salt if necessary.
A sprinkle of freshly ground pepper, stir and let it stew covered for about ten minutes, adding a couple of tablespoons of hot water if it dries out too much.
