Spritz cookies are simple and delicious with a crispy exterior that melts in your mouth thanks to the butter-based dough. The origin of this cookie, known by different names, is Milanese but they are recreated in all kitchens. The ingredients are few and simple to find in any kitchen, made of flour, powdered sugar, eggs, and butter. For those who are gluten-intolerant, there is also a gluten-free version.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Medium
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 12
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3.5 oz dark chocolate (for coating)
- 1 oz sugar sprinkles (for decoration)
Tools
To make the cookie dough you just need a common hand mixer or a stand mixer with the paddle attachment this one is what I used, to place them on a baking sheet, use a piping bag with a star tip like this one
- 1 Stand Mixer Howork
Steps
Making the spritz cookie dough is very simple: first, beat the butter with the powdered sugar until you get a creamy mixture, then add the eggs one at a time, always waiting for the first one to be incorporated into the dough, finally add the flour little by little and lastly the vanilla flavor.
With the help of a piping bag with a star tip, form your cookies on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper; you can decorate some with the sugar sprinkles; bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 12′.
Meanwhile, melt 3.5 oz of dark chocolate in a double boiler and when you have baked and slightly cooled your cookies, dip them halfway into the melted chocolate and place them back on the parchment paper to dry.
