Homemade Glucose 🏠

in

Homemade glucose, after many years and much money spent on purchasing glucose for my sweet preparations, today I can share with you a recipe that is sure to succeed and is low cost.
Let’s make homemade glucose syrup useful in various pastry preparations and more, because I’ve discovered that it can also be used for personal care as Arabic wax!
Personally, I use it to prepare sugar paste and some more modern preparations like mirror glazes as I used in this profiteroles recipe

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Preparation time: 3 Minutes
  • Cooking time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: A 1 3/4 cup jar
  • Cuisine: Italian

INGREDIENTS

The ingredients are simple and easily found at home.

  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 2/3 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch (leveled)

Cooking Tools

You just need to use a simple non-stick saucepan to cook your glucose.

  • 1 Saucepan

Glucose Preparation

  • To obtain your glucose syrup, prepare 1 1/2 cups of sugar with one teaspoon of cornstarch, 2/3 cup of water, and one tablespoon of strained lemon juice.

  • Pour the sugar, starch, water, and lemon juice into a saucepan and place over the heat, stirring roughly with a spoon. Keep the flame high until it begins to boil, then lower the heat to the minimum and let it simmer for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat and let it cool.

  • When you turn off the heat, your glucose syrup should be this color, light caramel.

  • Once cooled, you can close the obtained syrup in glass jars and consume it as needed, it keeps for a long time, and I prefer to store the tightly closed jar in the refrigerator. You will never believe it, but if you have realized that you have prepared too much glucose and are not sure about using it, do not throw it away, or if you have prepared it many days ago and are not comfortable using it for edible recipes, use it as a common wax. Heat it in a bain-marie or microwave, spread it, and pull off your excess hair! You will beautify yourself with an ultra-natural product 🙂

NOTES

You can use this glucose for your sweet recipes but you can also put it back on the heat for another 10 minutes, let it thicken a little, and use it as a natural wax for smooth and soft skin.
