Pizza with Sausage and Potato Chips

The pizza with sausage and potato chips is a rich and tasty idea for making and enjoying pizza at home. With this recipe, you’ll please both adults and kids, and if the little ones prefer hot dogs, you can replace the sausage and follow the same procedure. For this recipe, I topped the pizza with mozzarella, potato chips (previously cooked in a hot air fryer or in the oven) and crumbled sausage: the potatoes will be crispy and make the pizza very appetizing!

Pizza with Sausage and Potato Chips
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 8 Hours
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 3 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Air Frying

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp fresh yeast
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 7 oz mozzarella
  • 3 1/2 oz sausage
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt

Steps

  • To make the pizza with sausage and potato chips, crumble the fresh yeast into a small bowl and add room temperature water. Stir until the yeast is completely dissolved.

  • In a large bowl, or in a stand mixer, pour the flour and add the yeast and water mixture. Start kneading.

  • Also add the salt and extra virgin olive oil; knead until the dough takes shape: it should be a compact and soft dough that does not stick to your hands or the bowl.

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for four hours, until it doubles in volume.

  • After the rising time, take the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Place them in round baking pans to make round pizzas.

  • Spread the pizzas by hand and let rise for another 3/4 hours, away from drafts, preferably in the turned-off oven.

  • Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Rinse them under running water, soak them in cold water for about 20 minutes, then drain and pat them dry with a clean cloth.

  • Transfer the potato chips to a bowl, add a pinch of salt and drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil.

  • Place the potato chips in the hot air fryer basket and cook them at 392°F (200°C) for 8/10 minutes.

  • Alternatively, bake them in a preheated fan oven at 392°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes, turning them over after 10 minutes.

  • Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven at 428°F (220°C) for 10 minutes. Remove the pizzas from the oven, add the shredded mozzarella, potato chips, and crumbled sausage. Put the pizzas back in the oven for 5 minutes, or until desired doneness.

  • Serve the pizzas and enjoy your meal!
