The caramelized onions are a tasty and easy-to-prepare side dish, ideal as an appetizer accompaniment to cheeses and cured meats, or served on toasted bread, and why not as a fundamental part of a homemade burger.
Once again, I recommend trying the recipe and as always I’m waiting for your feedback on my Instagram profile @isaporidicasa.

Ingredients
- 1.32 lbs yellow onions
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 pinch salt
Tools
- Pan
- Chopping board
Steps
First, cut the onions into thin slices
Transfer the onions to a large pan, add the brown sugar, and pour in the water, adjusting with a pinch of salt
Cook over very low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring often with a spoon. During cooking, the onions should never stick or burn; if the liquid in the pot runs out, add one or two tablespoons of water.
Add the balsamic vinegar, let it dry, and turn off the heat. And here are our caramelized onions, ready to be enjoyed!
Storage
Caramelized onions can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days in a sealed glass container
