Savory Croissants Stuffed with Potatoes, Sausage, and Mushrooms

The savory croissants stuffed with potatoes, sausage, and mushrooms are tasty finger food bites to serve as an appetizer or starter. To make these croissants, I used puff pastry and opted for a rich and delicious filling: potatoes, pan-fried sausage, and sautéed mushrooms. I cooked the croissants in the hot air fryer, but I also wrote in the procedure how to bake them in the oven. These savory croissants stuffed with potatoes, sausage, and mushrooms are a burst of flavor!

  • Peel the sausage, crumble it, and brown it in a non-stick skillet over moderate heat.

  • Clean the mushrooms, slice them thin, and place them in a pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, and a sprinkle of oregano. Cook over low heat for about 15 minutes.

  • In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, grated Parmesan cheese, a sprinkle of oregano, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything with a fork.

  • Roll out the puff pastry and with the help of a pastry wheel, divide it into triangles.

  • In each wedge (triangle), place a tablespoon of potatoes, some sausage, a few mushrooms, and a few cubes of mozzarella.

  • Roll each triangle onto itself starting from the longest side, sealing the edges well.

  • Drizzle each croissant with a bit of extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of oregano.

  • Place the croissants inside the air fryer basket lined with parchment paper.

  • Cook in the hot air fryer at 392°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes or until golden.

  • For those who do not have a hot air fryer: Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 428°F (220°C) for 10 minutes or until golden.
