The stuffed tomatoes cooked with an air fryer are simply filled with stale bread, plenty of basil, parmesan, and olive oil. Nothing simpler and fresher on hot summer days, cooked with my beloved air fryer which allows cooking without overheating the kitchen. Fantastic.
Very simple and quick to prepare with a tasty and versatile result, the stuffed tomatoes can be eaten hot or cold. For a creative variation, you can also add chopped black olives to the filling mixture, or tuna, but as we will make them, they are already tasty.
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very economical
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 4 People
- Cooking methods: Air frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Summer
Ingredients
- 3 medium-sized round tomatoes
- 5.3 oz stale bread
- 12 leaves basil (fresh)
- 1 clove garlic
- 4 tablespoons grated cheese
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- to taste salt and pepper, olive oil
Steps
Cut the stale bread into cubes and put it in a bowl with some water, just enough to soak it a bit and soften it. Squeeze it very well and place it in a blender together with the basil and the garlic clove. Coarsely chop the mixture to blend the ingredients, then transfer it to a bowl and set aside.
Meanwhile, wash and cut the tomatoes in half, then use a teaspoon to remove the juice and pulp (which you will set aside) and place the tomatoes in an aluminum tray suitable for your air fryer.
At this point, blend the tomato pulp and juice finely and add them to the bread and basil mixture. Add the grated cheese, olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste.
Mix the mixture well and let it sit to absorb flavors for a few minutes before proceeding to fill the tomatoes.
Fill the tomatoes with the stuffing, drizzle them with a little olive oil, and place the tray in the air fryer.
Cook the tomatoes at 338°F for 30 minutes, until golden brown. Finally, serve them as a side dish hot, warm, or cold accompanied by a fresh second course.
