TUNA MEATBALLS with Air Fryer

I love tuna meatballs with an air fryer, because they become deliciously tasty without passing them through the pan in oil frying. With this recipe, we will have an exceptional fried cooked with air, very tasty, to serve as a main course, appetizer, or buffet.

You will need to use the air fryer, I use a COSORI 5.5 qt, knead the ingredients and in no time we will have our tuna meatballs. Remember that all recipes made with the air fryer can also be made in our traditional convection oven, or pan-fried.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 30 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Air frying
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 4.5 oz tuna in oil (drained)
  • 4.5 oz ricotta (any type)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (dry)
  • 0.7 oz grated parmesan (or grana padano)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 clove garlic (chopped or mashed)
  • A few sprigs chopped parsley
  • to taste salt and ground black pepper

Steps

  • In a bowl, put all the ingredients, and with a fork mix them together, until you get a homogeneous mixture, neither sticky nor too firm. If necessary, add small amounts of breadcrumbs to give body to the mixture. Let it rest for 5 minutes.

  • Using a teaspoon, scoop portions of the mixture and form the tuna meatballs, you will get 30 of this size, but I do not recommend making them larger, this size is optimal for the air fryer.

Place them in a bowl and then drizzle a veil of olive oil over them, spraying them from all sides. If you don’t have a sprayer, brush them with oil.

  • Place the tuna meatballs on parchment paper suitable for your air fryer, without overlapping them.

  • Preheat the fryer to 356°F for 3 minutes.

Insert the basket into the fryer and cook the meatballs at 356°F for 12 minutes. Remember to open the basket halfway through cooking (after 6 minutes) and shake them to turn them, and continue until the end of cooking.

Serve them hot, but they are also good warm or cold, on a bed of Belgian endive, or radicchio, or chicory. The bitter aftertaste of these three sides pairs well with our tuna meatballs.
