HOW TO MAKE GLAZE for Shining Desserts

in

The glaze for shining desserts, cakes, fruit tarts, or tartlets, is easy to make and especially economical. We need water, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. We can also decide the density of the glaze based on its intended use. The starch thickens the glaze, while the lemon, in addition to adding some flavor, will make it more viscous.

It only takes 5 minutes to prepare, and when it is warm or completely cool, you can spread it on your desserts to give them that glossy shine and, especially for fruit tarts, to prevent early oxidation. Try it on the chilled melon cake or the coconut panna cotta with tropical fruits

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 1 Piece
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 7/8 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (strained)

Steps

  • Prepare the sugar separately, the water in a saucepan, and the cornstarch in a separate small glass. Squeeze the lemon juice and strain it.

To make the glaze, a whisk is useful for mixing and avoiding lumps during cooking.

  • Take a few tablespoons of water from the recipe, and pour it into the small glass with the cornstarch. Dissolve the starch well, pressing with the spoon to remove small lumps.

Pour the dissolved cornstarch into the saucepan along with the sugar and lemon juice.

  • Place the saucepan on the heat and cook for 5 minutes from the moment it starts to boil. Stir constantly with the whisk until you see it thicken. Turn off the heat and let it cool. As it cools, the glaze will become firmer and more compact.

You can pour it warm over cakes or fruit tarts, or completely cool. The shine effect is ready, natural, economical, and above all, quick to make.
