  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Rest time: 30 Minutes
  • Portions: 14 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 5 tbsps sunflower seed oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup parmesan (grated or Grana Padano)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt (1/2 teaspoon)
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast for savory preparations (1/2 teaspoon)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (ground)

Steps

  • In a bowl, place all the ingredients, mix them first with a fork, then gather the mixture with your hands and knead it.
Make a dough ball and let it rest in the same bowl, at room temperature, for 30 minutes.

After the resting time, take the dough ball and work it a little on a flat surface.
Then take a small piece of dough at a time and form long cylinders 4 inches long and a few millimeters thick. Take two small ropes, join one of the ends together, and twist them onto themselves, forming a small braid.

  • Place the ready savory cacio e pepe braids in a baking tray.
Bake in a preheated oven at 340°F convection for 20 minutes, or 355°F static, until golden and fully cooked. Let the braids cool slightly before removing them from the tray.
With this amount, you will get 14 pieces. If you want to make more, double the recipe weight.
