Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 150 ml tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp rosemary (dried)
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsps grated Grana Padano

Tools

  • 1 Measuring Jug
  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 Fluted Pastry Wheel
  • 1 Baking Tray
  • 1 Parchment Paper

Preparation of Puff Pastry Breadsticks with Tomato

  • First, take the puff pastry out of the fridge and remove it from the plastic packaging, then set it aside until use.

Pour the tomato sauce into a measuring jug.

Add 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary, a pinch of garlic powder, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Stir to mix everything well.

  • Now unroll the puff pastry on the work surface and evenly spread the herb-flavored tomato sauce over it.

  • Finally, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of grated cheese.

  • Then fold the puff pastry in half and use a fluted pastry wheel to cut strips about 0.4 inches (1 cm) wide, which will be the breadsticks. I usually get 14 out of it.

  • Twist the strips and transfer them to a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F (180°C) for 13-14 minutes.

Once the breadsticks are cooked, let them cool for a few minutes in the oven with the door open.

  • And voilà… the puff pastry breadsticks with tomato are ready to be brought to the appetizer table and served to your guests.

Useful Tips

If you have leftover tomato sauce, you can easily use it to fill your breadsticks.

Use a fairly thick tomato sauce; if you have a slightly liquid one, let it simmer in a pan for a few minutes with a drizzle of oil to thicken it a bit.
