The melon basket with fruit is an original and cute way to eat melon and serve fruit salad at the table.
Melon is one of the fruits that provides the most benefits to our body and cannot be missing from our table in the summer season. This recipe can be personalized with the addition of preferred fruits and, if children are expected, maraschino can be replaced with a non-alcoholic alternative or omitted.
The melon basket with fruit is a colorful and fun idea to serve to guests for outdoor dinners and buffets.

Ingredients
- 1 Melon
- 2 small peaches
- 7 Strawberries
- as needed Red currant
- leaves Mint
- 3 tablespoons Maraschino
- Lemon juice
Preparation
To make the melon basket with fruit, cut the melon trying to give it the appearance of a basket with a handle: on the top part of the melon cut (and remove) two side wedges and leave one in the center to represent the handle.
Clean and empty the melon of its seeds and internal filaments. Then with the help of a knife and a spoon, remove the flesh; perform this operation on the parts that have been removed as well.
Once the fruit is completely emptied, cut the flesh into pieces and put it in a bowl along with the peaches (peeled and cut into pieces), the strawberries cut in half, the currants, and some mint leaves.
Drizzle the fruit with the juice of half a lemon and the maraschino; sugar can be added if desired. Mix well and then pour the fruit into the melon basket. Serve with skewers.
Note: If you don’t want to prepare the basket, but prefer a simpler and more beachy version for a party with friends: cut the melon in half, remove the flesh, and then proceed as above. Serve with skewers and straws, it will be very fun and tasty!
