Preparation of quick pretzels

As you saw in the video, the preparation of these pretzels is extremely quick. If you want, you can also prepare them in advance (no more than a few hours) and let them rest in the fridge until it’s time to cook them.

  • In a large bowl, add the sifted flour with the instant yeast, then add the egg and finally the milk and oil. Add the bacon, grated cheese, and finally, season with salt and pepper. They’re ready to be kneaded!

  • Quickly knead with your hands to form a soft dough, which you will then roll out between two lightly floured sheets of parchment paper (this way you won’t even dirty the work surface) to a thickness of about a quarter inch.

  • Now we are ready to make the pretzels: you can use molds or, as I did, simply cut them into squares that we will place in the air fryer basket and cook at a temperature of 320°F for about 7-8 minutes. The times may vary depending on the appliance model you use. If you want to bake them in the oven, set the temperature to 340°F for about 10 minutes; they will be ready when just golden.

An extra tip:

* If you decide to prepare them in advance, then let the dough rest in the fridge well wrapped in plastic wrap;

* You can customize them with other diced cold cuts or, for a version without cold cuts, use grated pecorino romano and aromatic herbs;

* These quick pretzels keep in an airtight container for about 2 days.
