Penne of the 7 Sins

The penne of the 7 sins is a mysterious and perhaps more intriguing way to call the pasta with 7 Ps where in this recipe the Ps stand for:

– bacon;

– leek;

– peas;

– peeled tomatoes;

– chili pepper;

– parsley:

– cream!

While searching as always for news on the web, I noticed that other recipes also called the 7 Ps include bell pepper so… it’s up to you!

It is a recipe for a tasty and very easy first course that has no season and which I think can satisfy everyone!

If you want to make the sauce of the pasta with 7 Ps creamier, add more cream and tomato, but even like this, the first course is very appetizing and you can finish it by adding a nice tablespoon of grated Parmesan before serving it at the table!

Here is the recipe for penne with 7 Ps and I also recommend other recipes of pasta dishes with non-anonymous and intriguing titles like

Penne of the 7 Sins
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Medium
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Stove
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients

#ADV

  • 320 penne rigate (For me, De Cecco)
  • 2.5 oz bacon
  • 1/2 cup cooking cream
  • 9 oz peeled tomatoes (Today I tried those from ESSELUNGA and chopped them in the pan)
  • 3.5 oz peas (glass jar or frozen)
  • 1 leek (about 1.5 inches of the WHITE PART ONLY)
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste chili powder
  • 1 pinch pepper (optional)
  • to taste parsley (freshly chopped)

Tools

#ADV

  • High-sided Saucepan
  • Knives KNIFE
  • Pans
  • Spatulas

Steps

  • 1) Remove the outer sheath of the leek and slice into thin rings only a part of the white part.

    2) Pour the extra virgin olive oil into a pan and as soon as it’s hot, add the leek and let it brown, adding if necessary, a tablespoon of hot water and letting it stew for 3/4 minutes.

    3) Then add the diced bacon and let it sizzle until golden on all sides.

    4) Season with chili pepper and mix well, combining different flavors and textures.

    5) Now it’s time for the peas and after a few minutes also add the peeled tomatoes which are then chopped with a fork and cook for about 10 minutes, being careful that the sauce doesn’t dry out too much (if so, add a little water)!

    6) Finish preparing the sauce by adding the cooking cream (but even the kind meant to be whipped is fine, eh eh) and as you combine everything, adjust the salt (pepper if you like) and turn off the heat.

    7) In the high-sided saucepan that was already on the flame with water for cooking the pasta, add the penne at the boiling point, letting it cook for the minutes stated on the package and preferably al dente!

    8) Drain the moist pasta and pour it into the pan with the sauce, adjust the seasoning and compose the plates by sprinkling each portion with freshly chopped parsley!

    9) It is a first course rich in aromas that has a good balance and I believe it will be enjoyed by both adults and children!

    Enjoy your meal!

2) We also find light cream in the supermarket aisles, but if we really don’t want to use it, we can replace it with creamy cheese like Philadelphia or even robiola!
