The pizza star is a very scenic leavened preparation. The dough is made with flour, yeast, water, and salt. In my case, I filled it with Brie cheese and sausage, but you can stuff it as you like. It is easy to make, but to help you with the execution I made photos and videos of the various steps. Once the pizza base is spread out, you just need to make cuts to form wedges, fill each wedge, and pinch the dough to close.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 oz scamorza cheese
  • 7 oz sausage
  • 7 oz tomato sauce
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil

How to make the Pizza Star

  • Pour the flour and yeast into the stand mixer, then add the water and salt; turn on the dough hook at a medium speed.

  • Transfer the dough onto the workbench and make folds, form a smooth and soft dough ball, place it in a bowl covered with a cloth or plastic wrap, then put the bowl inside the turned-off oven with the light on for two hours.

  • After the resting time, turn the dough onto the semolina flour and press with your hands to form a disk. At this point, make 5 cuts without reaching too far into the center of the disk.

  • At this point, cover the surface with tomato sauce, cheeses, and sausage. With your hands, take the ends of each cut and close the dough creating a point.

  • Seal the ends of each point of the star and season with oregano and extra virgin olive oil.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 15-20 minutes.

It is preferable to consume the pizza star on the same day. It can also be frozen, but only after it has completely cooled down.
