Soft Black and White Cake, the fluffy dessert with a cocoa base and a deliciously creamy ricotta filling, truly simple and tasty!
The soft black and white dessert has no butter, it’s not very sweet, and is suitable for the whole family!
The two-tone fluffy dessert is a kind of marbled cake that looks very impressive with the cocoa batter squares peeking out not quite perfect on the dessert!
Today I also thought of making a video of the two-tone black and white cake with ricotta but I confess it’s really hard to draw lines of cream with a piping bag while trying to film it!

Ingredients for the Soft Black and White Cake Recipe
- 5/6 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder for desserts
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 1/2 oz vegetable oil
- 9 oz ricotta
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (maizena)

TO PREPARE THE SOFT BLACK AND WHITE CAKE RECIPE …
1) Start by preparing the ricotta cream by mixing the ricotta with sugar and sifted cornstarch;
2) Place it in the piping bag and put it in the fridge, then start preparing the batter for the recipe for the soft cake without butter and with oil, black and white.
3) In the bowl of a stand mixer or a mixing bowl, place the eggs and sugar and begin to beat for at least ten minutes minimum;
4) Now add the vegetable oil slowly while continuing to mix at low speed.
5) Continuing the recipe for the two-tone super fluffy soft cake, now gradually add the dry ingredients, namely flour, baking powder, and unsweetened cocoa.
6) Mix well with a hand whisk by folding the soft cake batter for breakfast, black and white from bottom to top, then pour it into the 9.5-inch diameter mold lined with release spray, or you can use the classic oil and flour, or a sheet of damp, well-wrinked parchment paper neatly arranged on the bottom of the round mold, preferably with a removable bottom.
7) Now level the soft two-tone mixture well and start tracing the lines of the super fluffy two-tone soft cake and bake at 340°F (170°C) for about 40 minutes in static mode, but as always, keep an eye on the baking because each oven surely has its own peculiarities!
8) Then let it cool for a few minutes and you’re ready to taste the butter-free two-tone dessert!

1) As I mentioned above, the two-tone fluffy dessert can have lines not only with the ricotta cream but we can also use mascarpone (same weight) or a classic custard, just a little denser so that it stays nice and visible on the surface during baking.
2) Store covered for 2/3 days at room temperature, but if it’s very hot, it’s better in the refrigerator!
