Puff Pastry Christmas Trees with Mortadella

Puff Pastry Christmas Trees with Mortadella because… a package of puff pastry was about to expire, and in no time, I thought of preparing some towers, Christmas trees filled with a tasty mortadella cream!
Ready-made puff pastry is undoubtedly a great asset in the kitchen, and I always have a few packages in the fridge, ready for a craving or a savoury tart to fill with mixed cheese creams, with ham and potatoes, with an easy vegetable ratatouille of the season, and even to make some quick breadsticks with sesame or poppy seeds.
Mortadella, also known as Bologna is very versatile, excellent for appetizers, first courses, seconds, and maybe even sides by making fennel and mortadella rolls, an old Bolognese tradition recipe.
The Christmas trees are a delicious and simple appetizer, ideal not only as appetizers and aperitifs but also as charming and delightful Christmas place cards that we can fill with salmon mousse, avocado cream, and much more.

PUFF PASTRY CHRISTMAS TREES WITH MORTADELLA
The cuisine of ASI

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4/6
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 3.5 oz mortadella
  • 3.5 oz ricotta
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • to taste milk (or optional cream)

Tools

#ADV

  • 2 Cookie Cutters
  • Baking Sheet
  • Piping Bag

Preparation

  • To prepare these Christmas trees made with puff pastry, you need to make for each puff pastry tree 2 circles, one smaller than the other.

If you don’t have 2 cookie cutters of different sizes, just use glasses, and you’re good to go.

  • I made circles of 1.2 and 1.6 inches, always placing them on a sheet of parchment paper and a few simple trees to place on top of the Christmas savory puff pastry.

  • I baked in a preheated oven at 350°F and let them brown for about 15 minutes or depending on your appliance’s characteristics.

  • Meanwhile, I prepare the mortadella mousse by blending everything in the mixer and adjusting the salt and pepper.

  • I prepare the ready puff pastry trees perfect as a Christmas appetizer by placing the larger circle underneath, filling with a little salty mousse and covering with the smaller circle.

  • I added a bit more of the salty dip with mortadella and ricotta and then the simple tree of December 25th.

  • Here are the puff pastry Christmas trees with mortadella ready to be served as a quick and tasty appetizer!
    Enjoy your meal
