Ingredients for Easy Air Fryer Chestnuts
- 1.1 lbs chestnuts
- 1 quart water
Tools
- 1 Tongs chestnut tongs
- 1 Saucepan saucepan
- 1 Air Fryer air fryer
Steps for Easy Air Fryer Chestnuts
Individually score each chestnut using a small pointed knife or the chestnut cutter tongs, forming an X on the back of each chestnut. Do this carefully to avoid them exploding during cooking.
Now, instead of soaking the chestnuts for hours, use this little trick: Put them in a saucepan and cover them with water. Cook them for 3 or 4 minutes from boiling. Then drain and place them on the air fryer rack.
Cook them at 392°F (200°C) for 15 minutes, remembering to shake them a bit halfway through cooking.
Let them cool for a few minutes before eating. And if you cover them with a cloth for a few minutes, they will also be very easy to peel.

How to store cooked chestnuts in an air fryer?
You can store cooked chestnuts in an air fryer in an airtight container at room temperature for one day or in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Before enjoying them, simply reheat them for 2-3 minutes in the air fryer at 320°F (160°C) to make them hot and fragrant as freshly made.
Do chestnuts need to be soaked before cooking in an air fryer?
No, it’s not necessary to soak the chestnuts! With a simple trick, you can blanch them for 3 or 4 minutes in water: this little step creates the right level of moisture for easy-to-peel and perfectly cooked chestnuts without soaking time.
