NESQUIK CAKE

The Nesquik cake is a soft and indulgent dessert made with the famous soluble cocoa powder we all know, which gives the cake an intense and irresistible flavor.
At the “venerable” age of 20 my son discovered and fell in love with Nesquik, which for me had always been a childhood food, something I associated with my sister Annamaria’s children and certainly not with a big 6’1″ guy with a beard and mustache!
Anyway, the youngster makes me buy packages of Nestlé powdered cocoa and here is the Nesquik cake, soft and delicious.
Of course I couldn’t leave it without a filling so I filled it with whipped cream (actually semi-whipped) sweetened with powdered sugar, but you can also use other tasty creams: chocolate cream, mascarpone with whipped cream or a chocolate ganache.
A simple but really delicious cake, perfect for an afternoon snack or a sweet break.

Ingredients for NESQUIK CAKE

  • 3 eggs (medium)
  • 2.4 cups all-purpose flour (about 300 g)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder (about 15 g)
  • 3.5 oz Nesquik
  • 2/3 cup milk (about 150 ml (≈5 fl oz))
  • 7 tbsp vegetable oil (I used corn oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (Pane degli Angeli)
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp granulated sugar (about 120 g)
  • to taste chocolate chips
  • to taste butter (for the pan)
  • to taste flour (for the pan)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (about 250 ml (≈8.5 fl oz))
  • to taste powdered sugar

  • Electric hand mixer
  • Mixing bowl

For the preparation of NESQUIK CAKE

  • For the Nesquik cake first of all beat the eggs with the sugar thoroughly and for a long time with an electric mixer.

    The mixture will become pale and frothy.

    Then add the sifted Nesquik.

    I folded it in with a spatula but you can also incorporate it with the mixer …your choice!

  • Add the milk and the mild-flavored vegetable oil in a thin stream …For these ingredients you can also proceed either by hand or using the mixer ^_^

  • Sift the all-purpose flour with the baking powder and add it in batches to the Nesquik mixture.

    (I won’t repeat it but …ok ok you’ve already understood perfectly!)

  • When the Nesquik cake batter is fluid, smooth and homogeneous, pour it into the previously buttered and floured 8-inch pan.

    Level well, add the chocolate chips and bake immediately in a preheated oven.

  • The oven temperature will be 338°F and the baking for me took about 35 minutes, but as always pay attention to your oven’s characteristics ^_*!

  • While the Nesquik cake is baking I whipped the heavy cream, keeping it soft, adding a little powdered sugar and mixing everything well.

  • Once baked, remove and unmold the Nesquik cake, then slice and fill it with the cream…

    It’s delicious!!!!!!!!

The cake baked in the 8-inch pan becomes very tall and therefore …you can fill it twice or soak it a little with a mix of light rum and water or kirsch (cherry liqueur) and water .
