The easy tarte tatin with cherry tomatoes is exquisite and also pretty, and besides the cherry or vine tomatoes, it has on the base raw ham, pine nuts and a grating of smoked scamorza cheese that I added just after I took the easy tarte tatin with cherry tomatoes out of the oven! It’s good, good, very good….the classic recipe not to be missed! 
WHY IS IT CALLED TARTE TATIN?
The Tarte Tatin is a very famous French dessert created by the TATIN sisters, owners of a restaurant in Lamotte-Beuvron.
It’s an apple dessert that, however, originated from a mistake because one of the TATIN sisters, in the hasty preparation of a cake, forgot to add the layer of shortcrust pastry and directly poured the apple slices onto the buttered and sugared mold!
She noticed the mistake and at this point added the pastry and created this delicious dessert with caramelized apples then enveloped by the pastry, creating a worldwide culinary success!!
In my small way, I used tomatoes, slices of raw ham and the pastry for a savory and tasty tarte tatin!

Ingredients EASY TARTE TATIN WITH CHERRY TOMATOES
- 1 roll ready pizza base
- 20 cherry tomatoes
- 5 slices raw ham
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon pine nuts
- to taste basil
- to taste scamorza cheese (for me smoked)
- to taste salt

Preparation Easy Tarte Tatin with Cherry Tomatoes
• Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half.
Place them in a frying pan with a little oil and sauté for 5 minutes.
Season with salt.
Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes on the bottom of the baking tin (12 x 8 inches) already lined with parchment paper.
•Sprinkle with pine nuts and cover everything with the slices of raw ham.
Now cover with the ready pizza base pricked with a fork.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes or until you see the easy tarte tatin with cherry tomatoes nicely puffed and golden.
• Remove from the oven and flip onto a serving plate using the parchment paper previously placed at the bottom of the tin.
Sprinkle the surface with small flakes of freshly grated scamorza cheese at the moment.
• Add some fresh basil leaves and serve immediately at the table. Enjoy your meal with the easy tarte tatin with cherry tomatoes recipe!
P.S. I didn’t add more salt because the raw ham is naturally quite salty, but if you prefer…
