  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas, All seasons

Ingredients for the Savory Charlotte with Salami and Olives

  • 7 oz cream cheese
  • 5 oz salami
  • 3 tbsp fresh heavy cream (Or milk)
  • 3.5 oz cream cheese
  • 1.75 oz pitted green olives
  • 2 packages white sandwich bread
  • as needed cream cheese to stick the bread squares
  • 3 slices salami or dried sausage
  • 3 green olives

Tools

  • 1 Plate
  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Knife
  • Cookie Cutter
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Food Processor

Steps for the Savory Charlotte with Salami and Olives

  • To create this wonderful savory charlotte, first prepare the two savory mousses. For the salami mousse, you can use salami slices or salami cut to a thickness of 1 inch or simply dried sausage. In a food processor, add the salami and chop for a few seconds. Pour in the cream cheese and cream, and continue to process to obtain a mousse. Refrigerate.

  • For the olive mousse, simply chop the pitted green olives first, and then add the cream cheese until a creamy mousse is obtained.

  • On a serving plate, in this case quite large, arrange the slices of white bread and create three layers of salami mousse. Finally, spread the olive mousse on the white bread (remove 2 tablespoons of mousse for the final decoration). In conclusion, there will be 3 layers of salami and 1 of olives. From the photos, you can easily understand how to best make the charlotte. Then place the cake in the refrigerator to set.

  • With the other slices of bread, cut many small rectangles to use as a final decoration. Cut out some stars with the help of a cutter. Toast the bread on both sides in a pan.

  • Before serving, arrange and ‘stick’ all the toasted sandwich bread tiles along the edge of the cake using a little cream cheese, thus creating the typical charlotte shape. Then decorate the surface with 3 dollops of olive mousse, stars and little stars to arrange as desired, salami slices, and olives. And here it is ready to serve.

  • Cut it into slices and serve. I hope you like my latest recipe, see you next time, friends.

STORAGE, TIPS, AND NOTES

The savory charlotte with salami and olives can also be prepared the day before being served. For the final decoration, to prevent the toasted bread from softening, it is better to add it last. The salami mousse can be replaced with tuna or any other cold cuts.
