  • 1 Rectangular puff pastry sheet
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 2 Cans of tuna in oil
  • 1 tsp pickled capers
  • 1 egg white for brushing
  • to taste sesame seeds
  • to taste butter
  • 1 red bell pepper

Steps for the savory puff pastry candles

  • To make these tasty savory puff pastry candles, first, make the candles. Unroll the puff pastry sheet and with the help of a knife, cut squares of dough in various sizes to create rolls of different sizes or measurements. Take the cannoli molds, brush them with egg white, and wrap the puff pastry squares around them, ensuring they adhere well. Then brush the puff pastry with egg white and roll it in sesame seeds, making sure the seeds evenly cover the entire surface. Arrange the puff pastry cannoli on a baking sheet covered with baking paper and bake until they are golden and puffy. It will take 20-30 minutes.

  • In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with the 2 cans of tuna, add the capers chopped with a knife, and blend carefully to obtain a homogeneous mixture. Place the filling in a piping bag and set aside. In the meantime, to create the famous “flames” that will add that extra touch to the candles, you will need to cut drop shapes using a red bell pepper. Gently remove the candles from the mold and fill them with the tuna filling.

  • Place the flame shapes of the red peppers on top of the filled rolls using a toothpick to give them the appearance of a real candle.
