Salami Baskets are an easy and quick appetizer, ideal to add to the 3 appetizers to impress everyone. The recipe is really simple, and if you don’t feel like turning on the oven, you can cook them in an air fryer. Once the salami baskets are cooked, you can fill them with whatever you prefer. In my version, I used egg cream and garnished with a tarallo and an anchovy, but you can alternatively replace everything with olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Ingredients
- 12 slices salami
- 2 hard-boiled eggs
- to taste mayonnaise
- to taste salt
- 6 anchovies in oil
- 6 taralli
Tools
- 1 muffin mold
How to Make Salami Baskets
Take two slices of salami and slightly overlap them on top of a muffin mold (no need to grease it). At this point, bake in the oven at 392°F for about 5 minutes.
In the meantime, boil the eggs in a pot with water, cooking the eggs for 9 minutes from when it starts to boil. Cool them in a bowl with cold water. Then peel them and transfer to a food processor.
Add mayonnaise and adjust the salt, then blend everything until you form a mousse. After the cooking time of the baskets, remove them from the mold and fill them with the prepared sauce.
Garnish with a tarallo and a rolled anchovy fillet.
Storage and Tips for Salami Baskets
They can be stored in the refrigerator, covered with food wrap, until the next day. They can be prepared well in advance, and if you don’t like the idea of a salami basket, you can replace it with flatbread baskets. Alternatively, if you don’t like anchovies, you can replace them with pitted green olives.
