Christmas Tree Crepes (chocolate and jam)

Some crepes were left over from another recipe and I wanted to make a quick little dessert: roll up a simple crepe, sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar, and done. But then, while searching for some ideas online, inspiration hit me. I saw a photo and immediately knew it was the best choice: the fastest, cutest, and most perfect recipe for Christmas.
That’s how these Christmas tree crepes were born, an idea that takes five minutes and turns two leftover crepes into a scenic and delicious dessert. With a few dots of jam and a drizzle of chocolate, they become a simple but striking tree, perfect for the holiday table.

TIPS
You can also use melted chocolate, pistachio cream, or gently melted white chocolate to decorate your Christmas tree crepes.
The crepes dressed as a little Christmas tree can be prepared the day before and decorated just before serving.

Christmas tree crepe with jam and chocolate
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 People
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 crepe (to make the star)
  • to taste strawberry jam
  • to taste Nutella®
  • to taste powdered sugar (optional to sprinkle on top of the sweets)

Tools

  • Hand Whisks
  • Bowls

Steps

  • Beat the eggs with the milk and salt in a bowl with a hand whisk.
Add the sifted flour and mix until you obtain a smooth batter.
Cook the batter in a non-stick pan to make thin crepes.

  • Then take two crepes per person.
Fold each crepe into four to form triangles to simulate Christmas trees.
Stack two triangles to form each sweet.

  • From the leftover crepe, cut out one or more stars using a cookie cutter and place them on top of the Christmas tree.

  • To make small decorations, I used a piping bag to try to do a clean job.

After inserting strawberry jam and Nutella® into the piping bag, make small red dots with the jam—in this case, strawberry—and a chocolate zig-zag.

For once, I didn’t add powdered sugar, but as always, it would be just fine!

  • Serve the Christmas tree crepes immediately, or let them rest for 5–10 minutes in the fridge to let the chocolate slightly set.
Delicious, delicious, delicious!!!!!!!!!!!! And beautiful too, right??
    Happy Holidays! Annalisa
