Light cake in air fryer with chocolate chips, gluten-free
This light cake with chocolate chips is very soft, made with only 5 ingredients in just a few minutes.
It’s perfect for a healthy breakfast or snack, it’s a light dessert, gluten-free.
How to make desserts in an air fryer? It’s very easy (read in the FAQs at the end of the article). Even with an air fryer, you can achieve soft, moist, and perfectly cooked desserts even at the bottom, quickly and with energy savings.
Please note that the temperature and cooking times are approximately indicative, because it depends a lot on your type of air fryer (mine is a Philips XXL), however, the recipes on my blog are all previously and rigorously tested by me (so more than proven). In any case, I recommend that you check the cooking from time to time, to best adapt times and temperature to your air fryer.

Ingredients for the Light cake in air fryer
- 7 oz cream cheese (I use Philadelphia, at room temperature)
- 1 egg (whole)
- 2.8 oz granulated sugar
- 0.7 oz cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 oz chocolate chips
- 1 pinch fine salt
- as needed Nutella® (optional)
- as needed butter (also coconut or release spray to grease the mold)
Tools
- Bowl
- Air fryer Philips Airfryer XXL
- Air fryer baking pan square 18/22 cm
- Air fryer parchment paper perforated
- Mixer Braun MultiQuick7 1000W power
Steps for the Light cake in air fryer
Take a bowl and, with an electric beater (or hand whisk), beat the egg with the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Then add the Philadelphia, incorporate well, and finally fold in the chocolate chips.
Meanwhile, preheat the air fryer for 15 minutes at 392°F.
Grease the mold for cakes of about 18-20 cm diameter (even with coconut butter or release spray) and place a perforated parchment sheet for air fryer (to unmold the cake easily), pour the batter into the mold and finally place it in the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 284°F for 20 minutes.
Then, once cooked, leave the cake in the turned-off air fryer basket for about 10 minutes.
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can easily prepare this cake in a regular oven, in static mode at 356°F for about 30 minutes
Once the cake has cooled well, unmold and serve it in slices. It stays soft for about 2-3 days wrapped in aluminum foil and you can also freeze it cooked and sliced.
If you don’t have any dietary restrictions, you can also fill it with Nutella.
Shopping Tips!!!
I really like the Philips Airfryer XXL, with a large and spacious basket, and the Rapid Air technology creates optimal hot air circulation that cooks food evenly and keeps it crispy outside and tender inside.
With 16 cooking functions in 1: Fries, bakes, grills, roasts, and reheats. A more healthy way to cook, it separates and captures excess fat (healthy and tasty dishes with up to 90% less fat). Cooks up to 50% faster and saves up to 70% energy compared to a normal oven (halves cooking times compared to a classic oven as it DOES NOT require preheating). The “Keep Warm” mode is very useful.
The individual components are all easily removable and dishwasher safe. Highly recommended!
To make this cake, I used the handy perforated parchment paper for air fryer, non-stick, easy to clean, can also be used in a classic oven.
I often also use these very useful trays of non-perforated Air Fryer Parchment Paper which do not dirty the fryer, but the hot air circulates because they are very thin. They are also resistant to oil and water, non-stick, do not burn, and can also go in a regular oven.
Square air fryer baking pan, 18/22 cm in diameter, also ideal for cakes.

FAQs
How to make desserts in an air fryer?
It’s very easy! I’ll reveal the secrets to getting perfect desserts in the air fryer, well-cooked and soft:
1) Preheat the fryer to 392°F for 15 minutes;
2) Cook the desserts slowly at a temperature of 284°F-320°F (to cook it well internally) for about 30 minutes;
3) Use the appropriate small containers: about 20 cm in diameter, if your basket is at least 22 cm. Otherwise, if you have a smaller basket, use an 18 cm mold, to promote air circulation.
Of course, the temperature and cooking times also depend a lot on your type of air fryer.
